Malabrigo Quickies: Doric Mitts by Becky Herrick
This entry was posted on 20th March, 2013 .On March 5th, Becky Herrick released this fabulous-for-the-whole-family Quickie! Becky says:
Doric columns are the simple ones and sometimes simple is best! In these mitts the simple lines allow the Malabrigo colorways to shine through. This design came to be while I was swatching with some really lovely, multicolored Malabrigo. I wanted to make mitts (I always want to make mitts) but the multicolored yarn was not cooperating with any stitch patterns. We've all been there, right? Hand painted yarn looks so pretty in the skein and it's so hard to find the right project. Doric mitts take advantage of how well reverse stockinette blends colors. The twisted stitch columns break up the fabric adding visual and knitterly interest.I love the way the samples go from semi-solid, to watercolor, to full-on variegated as the sizes get smaller. So delightfully versatile! You can learn more about the Doric Mitts on Ravelry here, or perhaps peruse our past Quickies here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ What are Malabrigo Quickies? Quickies are small, fast projects which require only one or two skeins of yarn. Approximately every two weeks we’re teaming up with a talented independent designer to present an exciting new accessory (or other “small object”) pattern, showcasing one of our many yarns and colorways.
