Malabrigo Quickies: Curiosity by Barbara Benson

This entry was posted on 8th January, 2013 .
We're kicking off the new year with this gorgeous and unique little number from Barbara Benson. Introducing Curiosity: Barbara says:
When working with the beautiful variegated yarns from Malabrigo you want to do two things: 1) show off the colors and 2) use every last inch of the yarn. This shawl was designed with these goals in mind. In this pattern you knit until you run out of yarn, it can be worked in just about any yarn weight with just about any amount of yardage. If you use a generous amount of yarn you get a shawl, if you have less yardage you will end up with something more scarf-like. Equally suitable for either a man or a woman; Curiosity is a fairly simple knit made up of stockinette and garter with basic increases. For my version I was lucky enough to have a stunning skein of Arroyo in the new colorway Marte. In Spanish Marte means Mars and you can see the deep reds, oranges, and umbers of that planet throughout this piece. Add the Marte to the recent Mars Rover mission and you get the shawl's name.
What a lovely way to start another year of Quickies! Thank you Barbara! You can check out Curiosity on Ravelry here, or browse through all the Quickies here.  You can also win the yarn to make this project on Barbara's blog! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What are Malabrigo Quickies? Quickies are small, fast projects which require only one or two skeins of yarn. Approximately every two weeks we’re teaming up with a talented independent designer to present an exciting new accessory (or other “small object”) pattern, showcasing one of our many yarns and colorways.
