Malabrigo Quickie Tomodachi by Noriko Ho
At this time of year there's a fairly good chance that you might be looking for something that is fairly quick to knit up. Maybe you have a last minute gift to figure out. Possibly your head is cold. Whatever the reason, this new pattern from Noriko Ho could be on and off your needles faster than you can believe. called Tomodachi, Noriko makes the most of the inherent interest in our fun and bukly Caracol - the yarn does most of the work for you.
We asked Noriko to speak a bit about her inspiration behind this design and she had this to say:
Caracol is a beautiful yarn that should speak for itself. Tomodachi was inspired by a combination of this fact, and the desire to have a quick and easy pattern to work up last second gifts for friends. The hat pattern works up quickly, but contains enough interest to make it such that you can work it up over and over again. It is written in four different sizes, and each hat can be done with a single skein of Caracol.
And she set about proving how versatile this pattern is by making samples in three different colors; Fuscia, Archangel, and Water Green. Each one is amazing in it's own way!
The construction of Tomodachi is interesting in that you knit the brim flat first and then pick up stitches to work the body and crown. She provides two different seaming options for the brim and I really love how the little twist makes such a big impact in the design. What color would you use for your version of Tomodachi?
